New Year New Hope
It’s a new year which for many (including me) means a fresh new start, new resolutions and new hope. Traditionally I take down my holiday decorations on New Years Day, not only because I like to start the new year off with a clean house, but it also gives me time to put the holidays and the previous year behind me. I reflect on the lessons learned, the friendships I built, the achievements I celebrated, and the reasons I have to be grateful. I also look forward into the new year at the opportunities I have to grow, goals I want to see come to fruition, and events I have to look forward to.
At Western Roundup Living Sober, we have a lot to celebrate for 2019. Our fabulous Fundraising Committee led by Kenny S. put on great events that helped raise funds for our Conference. Our Program Committee led by Eric A. added new events to our Conference including our Women’s Luncheon, People of Color Event, Trans Tea Party, and Drag Bingo with special guest Peaches Christ. Our Steering Committee led by our Outgoing Chair Kim S. pushed the boundaries of what we can do to truly deliver an unforgettable year! I am grateful for the many talented and dedicated people that served on our General Planning Committee and our volunteers throughout the year.
We rang in the New Year in style at our Masquerade Party hosted with our friends at the Castro Country Club! Thank you for all of our amazing volunteers that helped make the event possible, and a big thanks to everyone that joined us to ring in 2020.
Our 2020 Committees have been hard at work and already proving that this year will be another stellar year for WRLS! Our Fundraising Co-Chair James F. has exciting events planned throughout the year, including new events and community favorites including our Drag Bingo! which will be on January 25th.
Our Outreach Committee led by Charlie L. will soon be launching our Outreach Ambassador Program that will let YOU be the voice of WRLS in your community – stay tuned!
We have some important deadlines coming up including our Logo Contest, Musical Submissions, and Speaker Submissions so make sure to visit our home page for more information.
We have many more exciting initiatives we will be rolling out over the next few months to help us with our ongoing missions of creating safe and sober experiences to the LGBTQ+ Community.
We hope that you plan to join us at our Conference and fundraising events. Make a new year resolution to bring a newcomer with you!
On behalf of all of us here at Western Roundup Living Sober, we wish you a Happy New Year!
